You may know me as the author of dark satire based on true stuff. If you haven’t read my book yet, please get it and do so immediately. Amid the mayhem in the novel, one good and true thing I introduced is the concept of a full-solar home, with solar power for the house and two or more EVs (electric vehicles). The environmental benefits are impressive, but the financial benefits to you and your family, as well as the economy, are almost inconceivable. Here is my first True Stuff post. The Economic Benefits of a Full Solar Home

I hope you’ll enjoy The Early Bird Special. This 5,300-word story is set in 2027. It’s not dark, not satire, just fun optimistic science fiction. Rosie, the first caretaker-companion android in Bemidji, Minnesota, helps Barbara Thorsen spice up her life.Read The Early Bird Special. Comments, questions, and suggestions are welcome. What if I told you you could pay just $30K more for a home (about $150 more per month for the mortgage) that would save you $500 or more per month starting im-mediately? That by appplying part of the savings to the mortgage you could eliminate 10 years of payments and a ton of interest? That over time your cash savings would add up to hundreds of thousands of dolllars? You proba-bly wouldn’t believe me. But this is how our younger gen-eration really can do much better than their parents. So I made an interactive calculator that will prove it to you and embedded it in this website. The limits on rooftop solar are the rooftop, not the solar. Using a “flat roof” design allows space for plenty of solar. An average home and two EVs each driven 15K miles per year in Florida, for example, requires only about 900 square feet of solar panels (much less than the “flat roof” area). A complete system can be installed as part of new construction for about $30K. Not to mention that this home could save your life, by automatically switching to independent mode with your EV battery as backup whenever the grid fails. Texas, are you listening?

A short parapet protects and conceals enough south-facing solar panels to power the home and 2 vehicles. See my Full Solar Homewebsite for more info.
